Senator Catherine Callbeck is joined by Friends of the Farm Board Chair, Lane MacLaren and Research Station Director, Dr. Maria Rodriguez at the Experimental Farm on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 while planting a tree in the Premier’s Grove.
Friends of the Farm is pleased to be partnering with Agriculture Canada,
Parks Canada, PEI Association for Newcomers to Canada, and UPEI
(Robertson Library), to present "Soaring to New Heights: Kite Flying on
the Farm" as part of the 2014 Island wide celebrations.
This will be a festival of flying kites on our "Beloved Experimental
Farm", inviting the expertise of our newcomer communities who hold
centuries-old traditions of building and kite flying to share their
skills, and for islanders to travel that historical path to the
"Experimental Farm" to gather and celebrate. Parks Canada's "Ardgowan",
the adjacent property to "The Farm", where a Confederation party or two
was held, will be open to the public for walking tours.
Please stay tuned to this website. As the details unfold, we will share
them with you!
